One of the best ways to enjoy Vermont is on the Catamount Trail, which holds the record for being the longest cross-country ski trail in America. This 300 Mile trail is divided into a total of 26 sections and each will take a full day to cover. Half of the trails are routes that are groomed ski center trails; the other half cuts through the backwoods of Vermont. The trail is easily accessed from any Vermont lodging along the trail. Along the Catamount Trail is an uninterrupted trail that will basically allow you to cover the entire length of the state. Since the trail links to the trails from ski centers, it is easy to enter and exit these trails that allow you to see some of the most beautiful scenery available in the Northeastern United States.
